Nice and explosive cocktail brew of electroblues and discofunk into a kind of midtempo dancefloor cut with smoking bass, ripping guitar stabs, heavy drum beats and sexy babes… Hear the sweat drip over the guitar strings and be prepared for this electroshock…

Complete insanity from Freddie Mas on Codek, four tracks in total and he runs the whole gamut of weirdo dance music on here. “Tails Of Prevailing” is a full on acid assault in an electronic rave kinda way. “The Way They Look At Us” is a distended downbeat track, that sound like it’s on the wrong speed, all warped vocals, weird guitar FX and sludgy beats. On side-B “In Complete insanity from Freddie Mas on Codek, four tracks in total and he runs the whole gamut of weirdo dance music on here. “Tails Of Prevailing” is a full on acid assault in an electronic rave kinda way. “The Way They Look At Us” is a distended downbeat track, that sound like it’s on the wrong speed, all warped vocals, weird guitar FX and sludgy beats. On side-B “In The Act” is a Rephlex style wobbly acid techno throb with cut up vocals and stuttered samples. lastly we get the raging electronic punk of “Bathing In The Boil” a killer riff, shout vocals and an electronic bleep fest undercurrent, not bad I say.

Citing Freddie Mas’ biggest influences as “dreams, coincidences and house parties…”, the Chicago native has been introducing a physical dynamic to his productions, collaborations, infamous DJ sets and performances. something that, he feels, has long been missing from a rather stoic NYC dance scene. The Arc ep features 4 new tracks entirely written and produced byFreddy Mas that sit somewhere between electro-rock-punk-funk-house & genius….

americas bastard. citing ‘dreams, coincidences and house parties’ as main influences, freddie mas is determined to forge a new level of expression in popular music. simply describing his music as ‘motion motivated’, freddie has brought his uniquely physical dynamic to the new york art rock/ dance scene since 1997 with extremely unpredictable performances and dj sets that are heavenly and demonic, often simultaneously. sometimes dangerous but never stingy, mr. mas aims for textural and emotional vistas largely uncharted by his contemporaries.

freddie mas has released material on codek, output, tigersushi, and soundlab records. this fall sees the new
‘Arc ep’ on codek which is somewhere between electro-rock-punk-funk-techno….

IN FLAGRANTI/FREDDIE MAS – ‘TEACHING CHILDREN HOW TO SWEAR’
Merging their post-electroclash dance-rock mannerisms with the Happy Mondays like shouty lyrical stylings of Freddie Mas, In Flagranti come up with another great 12″ for Codek. Mas does the Shaun Ryder thing over “Teaching Children How To Swear”, which marries crunchy guitar squalls and reduced drums for a brilliant and original brew. “Convolution” is a chopped-up bottom knocker and “Monarchys Chair” is a four-to-the-floor edit of the title track with fuel injected beats and cut-up vocals. – www.piccadillyrecords.com

IN FLAGRANTI/FREDDIE MAS – ‘TEACHING CHILDREN HOW TO SWEAR’
I know, I know, sometimes we go a lil’ overboard with the “oh my god have you ever heard anything so modern …” comments on some new releases, but as Ms. Summer says, ‘this time I know it’s for real’ … Freddie Mas is one artist whose rather short discography has been nothing but faultless. In 2003 Codek released Freddie’s debut What I Remember About You. In 2004 he returned with A Path, the flip to ESG’s classic Party Music on More G.D.M. Vol. 5 (Tigersushi) and now in 2005 Mr. Mas teams with In Flagranti for Teaching Children to Swear. It’s a pointless exercise trying to label his work. Just take a look ‘n’ listen and figure it out for yourself. Also worth checking out are the 2 previous In Flagranti releases on Codek (both of which are in stock now), oh yeah … Freddie Mas also remixed Blood by Lopazz on Output – way way scarier than anything that Freddie dreamt of. Dig the sleazy creep – the music, that is. I bet Freddie Mas a lovely chap.
